What is NAD+?

NAD+ is the oxidised form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme involved in electron transfer during metabolic reactions. Its reduced counterpart is NADH. Although sold alongside research peptides, NAD+ is a nucleotide-based coenzyme rather than a peptide. The distinction matters when identifying the material required by a laboratory method. PubChem: NAD+ identity.

Start with the exact form specified in your protocol. A product labelled NAD+ should not be treated as interchangeable with NADH merely because both names contain “NAD”. Check the supplied chemical form and any salt or hydration information before using a molecular weight from a database in your calculations.

Why the analytical method matters

In a primary study of redox-cofactor measurement, Lu and colleagues found that conversion between oxidised and reduced forms during extraction could distort measured ratios. They compared preparation methods and assessed the extracts using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry. The work illustrates why sample preparation is part of interpreting an NAD+/NADH result. Lu et al., 2018: redox-cofactor extraction and measurement.

For purchasing, first establish what your assay measures: NAD+ alone, NADH, or a ratio between them. Then review the material specification, handling information and method requirements together. A published method provides scientific context; it does not verify the identity, stability or performance of a particular commercial batch.

Compare NAD+ research formats

The catalogue includes three NAD+ 500mg formats. The product amount does not by itself describe concentration, formulation or the equipment included.

Format Product listing Check before ordering
Research vial NAD+ 500mg vial Supplied form, batch documentation and your laboratory’s preparation requirements.
Refill cartridge NAD+ 500mg cartridge Cartridge contents and compatibility with the reusable V2 pen. The pen is separate.
Reusable pen set NAD+ 500mg V2 pen set Includes the reusable V2 pen and one NAD+ 500mg cartridge; review the full set contents.

Use the vial, cartridge and pen-set comparison if you are choosing between formats. Current listings determine contents and availability.

Four checks for NAD+ batch documentation

  1. Identity: match the full compound name, stated form and batch reference to the label. Resolve differences between the product listing and report.
  2. Measurement: distinguish an identity test, a purity result and a measurement of material content. Look for the method and units supporting each reported value.
  3. Applicability: confirm the report covers the material supplied. Do not assume a report for a different form, formulation or batch also covers your purchase.
  4. Handling record: retain the supplied storage and handling instructions alongside the receipt date and batch record. Ask for missing information before planning the work.

Common NAD+ purchasing questions

Does “500mg” mean 500mg per millilitre?

No. A mass in milligrams and a concentration in milligrams per millilitre are different specifications. A concentration requires a stated volume and formulation. Use the product documentation rather than inferring a concentration from the product name.

Can a vial replace a cartridge?

A vial and a refill cartridge are different containers and formats. Choose the format specified for your equipment and research workflow; do not assume that a vial functions as a pen cartridge.

Does a scientific paper certify the product?

No. Scientific publications describe the materials and methods studied by their authors. Product-specific evidence must identify the material and batch actually supplied.
